No. SANAVITA Health is designed to work alongside your conventional medical team, not to replace it. Our integrative oncology services are adjunctive — meaning they complement, support, and coordinate with your oncology care, not substitute for it. We never advise patients to forgo conventional treatment. If you are not currently working with an oncologist, we will actively encourage you to establish that relationship. We provide education, navigation, lab interpretation, and whole-person support. We do not diagnose, prescribe chemotherapy, or manage your oncology treatment.
Partially. Naturopathic medicine is a licensed medical profession in Arizona, which means Dr. Cantillo and Dr. Cavalcante can provide clinical care — diagnosis, treatment plans, lab orders — to Arizona residents. For patients outside Arizona, we offer educational consulting and navigation: helping you understand your records, review integrative strategies, prepare questions for your team, and make more informed decisions. This is not clinical medical care under naturopathic licensure, and we are transparent about that distinction in every consultation.
At this time, SANAVITA Health does not accept insurance. Our services are provided on a private-pay basis. We recognize this is a barrier for some patients, which is why we have established the Access Program — a limited set of reduced-fee or sliding-scale slots for patients experiencing financial hardship. Some patients may be able to use Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) for our services, depending on their plan. We recommend confirming with your HSA/FSA administrator.
An oncologist diagnoses cancer, stages it, and leads your treatment protocol (chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation, surgery, etc.). Integrative oncology consulting does something different: it helps you understand the terrain around your cancer — the metabolic, immune, and lifestyle factors that may influence resilience, treatment tolerance, recovery, and how your body responds to treatment, and what you can do to support that response. We review your records and labs, provide evidence-based nutrition and supplement guidance, explain genomic and biomarker results, and help you build a whole-person strategy. The two approaches are complementary, not competing.
Educational consulting means we help you understand and navigate your health situation — without technically practicing medicine under conventional licensure in states where naturopathic medicine is not licensed. In these contexts, we review your records and labs, explain what findings mean in an integrative context, help you formulate questions for your healthcare team, and share evidence-based naturopathic strategies. We are explicit that we are operating as educators and consultants in these contexts — not as your treating physician. In Arizona, where naturopathic medicine is a licensed primary care profession, Dr. Cantillo and Dr. Cavalcante can provide full clinical care.
Yes — in fact, active treatment is often the ideal time. Patients in treatment benefit most from having a physician who can review their specific protocol, assess supplement safety, provide evidence-based nutrition guidance, and help them understand what is happening in their body. The most important thing we do for patients in active treatment is help them ask better questions of their oncology team and avoid common pitfalls — like supplements that may interfere with their chemotherapy. If you are in active treatment, please mention that in your application so we can prioritize your case.
Dr. Julio Cantillo conducts consultations in English and Spanish (Español). Dr. Thiago Cavalcante Ribeiro conducts consultations in English, Portuguese (Português), and Spanish (Español). If you prefer to conduct your consultation in Spanish or Portuguese, please indicate that in your application. We believe removing language barriers from complex medical conversations is a fundamental part of whole-person care.
All consultations are conducted via secure video call. Before your visit, you will receive a secure intake form and a document request so that your physician can review your relevant records and labs in advance. This preparation time is built into the consultation experience — we do not want to spend our time together reading your records for the first time. After each visit, you receive a written summary and, for initial consultations, a written integrative care plan.
SANAVITA Health is a good fit if you: (1) are navigating a cancer diagnosis — in treatment, post-treatment, or newly diagnosed — and want physician-guided integrative support; (2) have a child with complex health needs and want naturopathic support alongside conventional care; (3) are health-motivated and want a proactive, data-informed approach to longevity; or (4) want to understand your biology more deeply than a standard medical appointment allows. We are not the right fit if you are looking for a replacement for your oncologist or primary care physician, or if you are seeking unproven alternative treatments marketed as cures. If you are unsure, the best next step is to schedule a Free Discovery Call — we review every case personally.
